New Fire Door at The Fire Pit
The Fire Pit restaurant in the sleepy valley of Rossendale, Lancashire opened its doors to the public in 2014 offering the highest quality food possible at reasonable prices. Since it opened, the restaurant has gone from strength to strength and is currently undergoing an expansion on the first floor which will, when finished be a bar area serving a vast range of drinks including a wide range of cocktails. The hope is that this will be redy in time for Christmas and New Year but at the latest early 2016.
As part of this expansion work it was required that the stairs to the new bar area were closed off in the event of a fire to provide a safe exit route for any patrons. This was achieved by BID Group installing a new fire roller shutter door to a newly formed opening entering the restaurant at the base of the stairs. This will be the new main entrance when completed and blends in seamlessly with its surroundings.
The door itself is tested to hold back a fire for 120 minutes and is linked directly into the buildings fire alarm creating an instant barrier should the worst happen. The door is also equipped with a battery backup system to provide continued use even in the event of a power failure. It was requested that the door, as well as being primarily used to hold back flames was also used for security over night, as such a key switch has been fitted to close each evening.
