Using Gates & Barriers To Protect Company Assets

When it comes to protecting your company’s assets, a comprehensive security plan is essential. From CCTV cameras and alarms to security personnel and access controls, there are a variety of tools and techniques available to help safeguard your business from theft, vandalism, and other threats.

One highly effective security measure is the use of industrial gates to control access to your premises. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the benefits of using gates to protect your company’s assets.

Why Use Gates to Protect Company Assets?

Gates can serve as an effective first line of defence against unauthorised entry to your property. By controlling who is allowed to enter and exit your premises, you can significantly reduce the risk of theft and other security breaches.

This is particularly important for businesses that store lots of valuable equipment, materials, or merchandise on their premises.

Deterrent Against Crime

Gates can act as a physical barrier that deters potential thieves from attempting to gain access to your property in the first place, making your business less vulnerable to theft and other criminal activity.

Controlling Access

Gates allow you to control who can enter and exit your property. By limiting access to authorised personnel and vehicles, you can make entry to your premises much more difficult for would-be thieves.

What’s more, with perimeter security such as a gate, vehicles cannot gain access or get close to your building, making it harder for thieves to make a quick escape with your company’s assets.

Privacy

Gates can provide privacy by preventing outsiders from looking inside your business and its operations. This, in turn, stops them from seeing any of your valuable assets, making your business less of a target for theft.

Prevents Vandalism

While many businesses’ greatest concern when protecting their assets is against theft, they should also consider the risk of vandalism. Thankfully, security gates can protect your premises from being broken into by vandals looking to damage your company’s assets.

Reduce Business Insurance Costs

Did you know that perimeter security is a significant factor in the cost of your business insurance? By securing your premises with gates, you can reduce your liability in case of theft or other types of incidents that may occur on your property.

This makes you more favourable to insurance providers, as they are less likely to have to cover the cost of stolen or damaged assets.

PSM Gates & Barriers

PSM, a division of BID Group Ltd, offers a wide range of security gates and security barriers to meet the security needs of businesses of all sizes. Our products include sliding gates, swing gates, bi-folding gates, and rising arm barriers, among others. Each of these options is designed to provide a high level of security while also offering ease of use and durability.

Sliding Gates

Sliding gates are a reliable, low maintenance option. They are particularly suited to small and large industrial sites and other high use areas which require a quick, yet smooth opening to allow authorised vehicles to enter and exit efficiently. Sliding gates are a popular choice for businesses that have limited space for a gate to swing open.

Our sliding gates are available in either cantilever or tracker versions, accommodating spans of up to 10 metres to suit your business premises’ needs.

Many businesses favour cantilever models, as they are supported from one side of the opening, eliminating the need for tracks to be cut into the road surface.

Our 9000A Automatic Cantilever Sliding Gate complies with BS/EN 12453 and is controlled by a German Feig control pane via an integrated frequency converter controlled output to a 3 phase motor.

This can be easily configured for all the standard program modes, including no passage time outs & free exit and entry loops to name a few.

As standard the control panel can accommodate pedestrian open signals, airlock systems and much more. The gate’s movement is controlled via a rack & pinion system monitored by an encoder, allowing for a precise and controlled operation that is robust and dependable.

Plus, we have developed the gate using aluminium construction with its obvious anti-corrosion properties.

Swing Gates

Swing gates are BS/EN 12453 compliant and are ideal for businesses that have more space to work with on their premises. They are suitable for openings of up to 10 metres in double leaf configuration, opening to a maximum of 90º.

Swing gates can be supplied with either underground or face fixed ‘Ram’ type operators. Benefits of BID Group Ltd’s swing gates include:

  • Low maintenance
  • Easy to use
  • Automatic closing for enhanced security
  • Available in a range of sizes

When choosing a gate for your business, it’s important to consider a number of factors, such as the size and layout of your property, your budget, and your specific security needs.
